Secon Sonic Drilling

future of drilling

We can mount the sonic head on your machines. "machines that have the minimum pressure and power that is necessary for the sonic head."

Challenge

Sonic drilling is a ground drilling technique that applies the principles of Bingham's Law of fluidization of porous materials, in combination with the Law of Inertia. The Sonic drill head, drill pipe and rod are brought to a vibration frequency of 150 Hz. These probes are transmitted through the drilling maneuver to its end, reflecting, and causing the pipe to elongate and It narrows, shortens, and fattens about 150 times per second! This intense vibration results in a fine crown of soil particles, in direct contact with the pipe, losing its structure. Instead of behaving as a rigid mass, soil behaves as a fluid powder in the unsaturated or dry zone, and as a slurry or paste in the saturated zone. This fluidization, or liquefaction, greatly reduces the friction between the pipe and the adjacent ground, allowing rapid penetration. When sampling, the same friction reduction is applied to the inner wall of the sample tube. Liquefaction allows the taking of very long samples of up to 4 m in length. In addition to vertical vibration, the drill head can also rotate, to easily take and break samples, as well as to cut concrete or asphalt agglomerate. In addition to the principle of liquefaction, another basic law of physics is applied in Sonic drilling: The Law of Inertia. Due to the high speed at which the pipe moves up and down, the soils simply do not have time to stick to the pipe, reducing friction very significantly, and consequently increasing the deepening capacity, as well as the length and quality of samples taken from the field.

How does it work?

The Sonic drilling head consists of two or more eccentric weights, synchronized, powered by high-speed hydraulic motors. The drilling head is mounted on oversized insulating blocks to concentrate energy on the drilling maneuver. The movement of the eccentric weights puts the pipe into pure vertical vibration. With little pushing or pulling force, you can

move forward or backward withlatuber.

The Secon sonic drill head is from Kirschenhofer Maschinen GmbH, a German company with over 25 years of experience designing special purpose machines.

We are official distributors in Spain, Andorra and Portugal.
